Here's What Our Patients Have to Say

The Mendieta Technique

  • She was happy, healthy, satisfied – but there was that one thing. Years spent mixing and matching swimsuits trying to find one that would compensate for her insecurity. Years spent checking herself in the mirror only to put those shorts, those jeans, that perfect black dress back on the shelf. Years spent running marathons and eating right only to have her body hit a plateau.

She knew she needed something. Her friends told her that she looked fine – but just like with your hang-ups, it was personal and no one could convince her to lose that insecurity. It didn’t define her, but it affected her, daily. One of those days, while she was making breakfast for her children, she saw Dr. Mendieta on her television screen.

Good Morning America, one of the most watched and most revered programs, was doing a feature on cosmetic surgery and needed the expertise of America’s top surgeon, Dr. Mendieta. Ana’s insecurities came rushing to the surface as they mentioned the very self-esteem issues she dealt with. That is, until Dr. Mendieta appeared on the screen. She had researched cosmetic surgery in the past, but there was something about Dr. Mendieta’s sincerity, his passion, his caring explanation that caught her attention. “It came through the television screen,” she said. Dr. Mendieta was on one of the most watched programs in the world, and his authenticity shone through. That night Ana did some more research. She found out that this famous physician; this gentleman who was on her television only a few hours earlier, was gifted and welcoming. She found out that he had created The Mendieta Technique for women just like her. It wasn’t just for the rich and famous, it was designed to help everyone, from housewife to celebrity– because beautiful confidence is universal. And it should be available to everyone. She made an appointment the next morning, and to this day she is an advocate for The Mendieta Technique.

Ana says, “I feel sexy for the first time in my life,” and at 46-years-old that is quite a triumph. Ana has even appeared on Anderson Cooper’s daytime talk show to tell the world how happy and revitalized she has become. She says, “Dr. Mendieta goes beyond the call of duty and made me feel like he was dedicating his life to me.”

She became part of the Mendieta family; the only difference is that now she wears that quintessential little black dress with the look and confidence of a star.

  • “I am so happy with the results (even though I know it is early and there is still some swelling and healing to go)….the new implants and Dr. Mendieta’s work is AMAZING! I cannot imagine a more pleasant experience and owe so much to you, Marisol, Esther, and all those behind the scenes who are just so wonderful!” Again, thank you so much!
    K. R.

How are you? I went in today for my second post-op and had a massage performed which was very soothing.

So far, everything looks great. I am still in disbelief that I have no bruising and really no pain (all I’ve felt is minor discomfort, pressure, and some electric shocks of pain every now and then which I assume are just the nerves regenerating). I’d heard of so, so many horror stories regarding the post-op pain that I still can’t believe how easy you made it for me! I also thought my breasts would look somewhat abnormal at first (which is what I’d always heard) – i.e., how high they sit, one being higher than the other etc. However, I can’t stop looking at them in the mirror – they look like what I would expect them to look like after at least a month. I thought I’d have to hide from showing them to anyone and I can’t wait to get to NY to show them off! This is great! You also did an amazing (!) job in correcting the asymmetry – they are both sitting at the same level and look to be the same size!

Thank you SOOO much – your hands are truly blessed by God and are a true artist, not to mention an outstanding surgeon!!! Please let Nina know to feel free to list me as a contact that prospective patients can call to talk to – I would be more than happy to share what a wonderful experience I had with anyone considering a breast augmentations with you.

Again, doctor, I am so, so grateful for what you’ve done for me. You couldn’t have done a better job – I am still in awe that I have no bruising or pain. All my friends and family who have come by are just as impressed with what you done as I am.

Congratulations also on your staff – they are all wonderful, especially Nina – I have met few women as charming, professional, and beautiful as she.

On implantforum.com (the online message board for women to discuss implants) many of the girls have their signature (which shows each time they post a message) with their stats and their doctor’s name. I am putting your name on mine. Also, if anyone posts regarding a doctor in Miami, I will be sure to send them to your office right away!

THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!! You’ve given me an unimaginable boost to my self-esteem!

    A. D. – Law Student
  • DEAR DR. MENDIETA, I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for all you have done for me. Since my surgery took place a distance away from home I was very nervous, but the second that I met you my mind was at ease. You were very honest and gave me all the information and options that I needed. You are a real professional and I felt comfortable with you, your office and your staff.

My surgery has been a pleasant experience and has exceeded my expectations. I feel like a new person. Thank you for the time you and your staff took with me prior to making my decision to have surgery and for the wonderful job you did.

Please say thank you to your employees, as they were a part of making me feel comfortable and relaxed. Lisa is great with patients, in the operating room and Nina answered many of my phone calls and questions. To me, it made a big difference that your entire staff is helpful, friendly, and professional. To me they are a reflection of you. They are truly wonderful people.

I will recommend some business to you and also keep you in mind for the future should I consider any other form of cosmetic surgery again.

I just wanted to quickly take the time to thank you and your staff for doing such a wonderful job with my breast augmentation. I am EXTREMELY satisfied with my results and if I could do it over again I would definitely come back to you. I wanted to also let you know that I was seriously considering going to a female plastic surgeon because I felt that as a woman a female surgeon would better understand how important the outcome would be to me. However, discovering your work on “breast-implants-augmentations.com”, convinced me that the gender of the surgeon is of no consequence. The more important thing is how skilled the surgeon is. That doesn’t matter if that surgeon is male or female.

I cannot believe that it’s only been three days since my surgery and I am up and running. I went to my friend’s son’s baseball game this morning and I also went to a swimwear store and bought a bathing suit that I never thought I would be able to wear. Thanks to you and your staff, that swimwear store near my apartment complex is probably going to make a lot of money because of you! Actually probably almost every clothing store within a 60 mile radius will probably cash in because of my new breasts (perhaps you should also open a clothing store! LOL).

Again, I just wanted to quickly thank you and your staff for a job well done. It was definitely worth the trip down there. As a matter of fact I’m going to tell all my friends who are interested in BAs that if they want “Breasts ‘R Us” breasts to see a doctor in the Tampa area, but if they want excellent results, then they need to come see you in Coconut Grove. I will call the office sometime next week so I can go for a follow up appointment and I also want to purchase the extended warranty plan through Mentor.

    Thank you Dr. Mendieta!

P.S. I’m going to go to all those implant info web sites and brag about you!

It is all your fault that my body is finally looking like I wanted it to look. It is about time. It has been almost fifty years of fighting with it. I truly understand why women when they fix one part of their body, continue to repair the rest of it.

My spirit, my energy my attitude and my heart have been restored with plastic surgery. I knew that it would not change the way people perceived me, but I did it for myself. The comments, compliments and remarks have definitely been all positive. I was asked if the money I spent was worth it? I can say that every time has brought me new happiness. My clothes fit or are baggy. It is a joy to walk in to my closet finding something I can wear. My co-workers look at me with disbelief. They are all asking millions of questions regarding plastic surgery. I do not mind referring people to the BEST DOCTOR in Miami, Florida. I can’t wait for my mother to see me. She will be amazed.

When I say that I LOVE YOU, I mean it from my heart. You have made such a difference in my life because you cared to do your very best work on me. I am attending an awards ceremony tomorrow. I have chosen a fitted suit (that did not fit) to wear. I am having a blast showing off my body. Everyone wants to touch and feel the scars. They are amazed when they do not find a scar or a swollen area.

They are amazed at the modern techniques of plastic surgery. Perhaps, my breast will be next. Thanks for being the best plastic surgeon in Miami. I still am going to adopt you as part of my family.

    Thank you so much!!!

  • “I am a singer and the entertainment industry is an incredibly competitive world. Not only do you have to sound great, but also you have to look perfect, all the time. Singing has been my dream; it is the only thing I have ever wanted to do. And I knew that to accomplish my dreams, to advance my career I needed some help. I knew of Dr. Mendieta and knew how incredible his work was. And the comfort that he could give me, the way he could make sure that I looked perfect when on stage in front of thousands of people was something I couldn’t pass up. Dr. Mendieta is amazing, he is supportive and such a gifted surgeon.

“But most importantly, he helped bring me closer to realizing my dreams, and that’s how he changed my life”

    Falom Fitzgerald
  • ‘Where did you buy that dress,’ is the biggest indirect compliment I receive from ladies on the street. Whether its picking up a few things at the grocery store or picking up a cappuccino, I tend to run into woman after woman who admire the body that Dr. Mendieta has sculpted for me. I am very excited with the new body I have because it has completely changed my whole outlook on life. My self-esteem has risen to its maximum potential and I feel like I am Julia Roberts on Rodeo Drive!”

“I was not blessed with curves, yet Mendieta has given me a gift I have always wanted. When I tell others what I have done to my body, their jaws drop and their minds go into automatic shock as they picture themselves with a tiny waist and a perfect behind. I wake up every day happy beyond belief and totally energized to take on the world, and it’s all due to the amazing Dr. Mendieta.”

    Rita Perez
  • “Hearing about Dr. Mendieta was the hand of God at work. I had been considering plastic surgery and was in my dentist’s office having a routine cleaning. As I was leaving, the receptionist handed me a copy of New Beauty magazine. Dr. Mendieta was featured in the magazine, and I was so impressed with him and his work that I made an appointment for a consultation that same day. And I have been walking on cloud nine ever since.”

“After extensive research I felt that Dr. Mendieta was the right choice for my procedure. Dr. Mendieta was so professional and had a calming presence. I felt at ease and very comfortable with him as well as his staff. He took such excellent care of me. The staff was kind, supportive, and empathetic with my situation and treated me with the utmost compassion and professionalism. They became family to me and I will always be so grateful to each of them for their help and support. Having babies completely changed my appearance and Dr. Mendieta helped me hit the reset button on my body. I am able to wear clothes that I love instead of frumpy elastic waistbands and oversized shirts to hide the fat.

“I feel incredibly sexy and secure again.”

    Heather Cucci
  • “The search for a doctor is grueling. I mean, this was a very big decision for me, and I wanted the best treatment, but also a physician that I could count on to explain everything to me. A good friend of mine mentioned Dr. Mendieta and the 4Beauty team to me, and I decided to schedule a consultation. And if it’s possible to fall in love at first sight with a whole practice, well then, that’s what happened to me. The staff was incredibly caring and attentive from the moment I set foot through the door. And that care and level of attention is why I am an advocate for Dr. Mendieta”

“I can’t say enough kind words about Nina. Having a woman who understood what I was feeling was priceless. The greatest compliment I can give her is that right off the bat I didn’t feel like a patient, I felt like I was with a friend, with someone who sincerely cared about me. She was a calming presence, she cared about me, as a person, and not just a patient. My life has taken a complete 180-degree turn since I found Dr. Mendieta, Nina Mendieta, and the 4Beauty team.

“I am happy, I am confident, and I have this wonderful 4Beauty team that has my best interests in mind. I know that I can turn to them for anything, and that peace of mind is the greatest gift I could ask for.”

Liposculpture is really about reshifting fat. Its about distributing your fat and a much better place for creating more natural, more beautiful results.  The best surgeon has an aesthetic eye and artful appreciation of the human form.  Did you know the ideal female form boils down to a simple ratio, according to a cross-cultural study?

Dr. Mendieta has been named one of America’s Top Surgeons for five years in a row by the Consumer Research Council in America. He lectures around the world.

Hey, I’d like to thank those that have given us a rating on iTunes or Stitcher.

What Will My New Butt Feel Like?

2014-03-20 14:24:28 admin

If you are considering a Brazilian butt lift, you probably have a variety of questions. While I do try to answer most common questions in my blog, one we haven’t broached is what your butt will feel like after a Brazilian butt lift.

The best I can do is to tell you that your new butt will feel exactly like you.

With the Brazilian butt lift, we take fat from other areas of your body, in most cases from around the abdomen, and transfer it to your butt. This is why the procedure is commonly referred to as the butt lift via fat transfer.

Immediately after surgery, you will feel sore, much like the feeling you get after working out for the first time in months. However, when all of the swelling and bruising subsides and your recovery is complete, roughly six months post-op, your butt will feel just like it does pre-surgery.

If you are interested in seeing before and after pictures of my work, please visit my website www.themendietatechnique.com

I just released a number of informative videos on various procedures that I perform at my Miami clinic, 4beauty Aesthetics. Be sure to follow us on Facebook for the latest updates!

March With Mendieta

2014-03-10 13:42:15 admin

This month, we march forward. There is so much information available about preparing for plastic surgery; sometimes the recovery process gets overlooked. The reality is, following your surgeon’s instructions, is that a post-op is vital to getting ultimate final results.

For instance, take the Brazilian butt lift. Generally, I give my patients specific instructions on steps they need to take at home after surgery. These include types of clothing they should avoid, how much pressure they should put on their butt, when they can start exercising, and what they should be eating.

The fact of the matter is, we will not see the final results of your Brazilian butt lift until usually 6 months after surgery. At this point, we will be able to determine how much of the fat cells grafted into your butt survive. This can range anywhere from 50% to 75%.

Neglecting your surgeon’s post-op instructions can minimize your results.

Be sure to follow me on Facebook and Twitter. All month long I’ll be sharing tips to help your recovery from plastic surgery be seamless.

Men vs. women: Celebrity plastic surgery attitudes

2014-02-27 20:12:51 admin

“Celebrities influence how people not only think about plastic surgery, but what they would like to have done or whom they would like to look like.

There is a dramatic difference between the way men and women see and think of themselves when it comes to plastic surgery – even more so, when it comes to looking like someone else.

It is very common for women to bring in photos during the consultation to give us an idea of what they want. Right now in plastic surgery we are seeing a tremendous rise in buttock augmentation, also known as the Brazilian buttock lift or fat grafting to the buttock. In this procedure, we take fat from unwanted areas and transfer it to the gluteal area, allowing us to shape and mold the posterior. With this craze, women often bring in photos of Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez.”

Are Brazilian butt lifts the new boob job?

2014-02-27 20:06:38 admin

“The number of Brazilian butt lifts being performed in the U.S. has grown by an astounding 58 percent over the last year, according to new research.

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, which released a portion of its annual findings today, has discovered that the augmenting procedure has become so popular that 11per cent more surgeons have now begun offering it as a service.

‘The trend can definitely be attributed to more women wanting to emulate the look of Kim Kardashian’s and Jennifer Lopez’s shapely buttocks based on what I hear in my own offices on a near-daily basis,’ Dr Constantino Mendieta of Miami said of the surgery’s increase in a statement.”

The Final Results Of My Butt Lift

2014-02-24 15:21:42 admin

When I consult with a prospective patient about the Brazilian butt lift, one of the questions I always get is about their final result.

“Dr. Mendieta, what will my butt look like?”

There are a few points that I always make very clear. One, your body is genetically predisposed to hold fat cells in certain areas. This may be in your abdomen, or it may be in your butt. With the Brazilian Butt Lift, we are transferring fat cells from your abdomen and grafting them onto your butt.

Now the way fat cells work is relatively simple. There are only a couple times during your lifetime when your body can generate fat cells. In all other instances that you gain/lose weight, this is simply those fat cells getting bigger and smaller, you are not losing/gaining them.

Which finally leads us to the question, what will your butt look like after a Brazilian butt lift?

One of the main factors in your final appearance will be how much fat I have to work with going in to surgery. In some instances, I send my patients to booty camp, where I ask them to gain around five to ten pounds. This way, we are working with your own body fat throughout the entire surgery.

Diet and nutrition are also important factors. Now remember, with the Brazilian butt lift, not only am I increasing the size of your butt, but I’m sculpting your abdomen, creating that hourglass figure that women crave. When it comes to diet and nutrition, and individual who works out (six months post-op, of course), may see their fat cells decrease in size. However, this would be the case across your whole body, not just you butt, so the proportion between your abdomen and butt would still remain the same.

I just released a number of informative videos on various procedures that I perform at my Miami clinic, 4beauty Aesthetics. Be sure to follow us on Facebook for the latest updates!

When Can I Work Out After My Brazilian Butt Lift?

2014-02-07 16:16:05 admin

Almost all of my patients ask me when they are allowed to start working out after their Brazilian Butt Lift. This isn’t surprising. Some of my patients are assigned to booty camp before surgery, allowing them to gain the necessary fat cells so that I can perform the surgery. This leaves many eager to hit the gym post-operation.

While I do recommend that all of my patients maintain an exercise regimen in the long run, immediately following surgery I suggest nothing but caution and patience.

With the Brazilian Butt Lift, I am hitting your body with a truck. Post surgery, you will feel very sore, almost like if you are just working out for the first time in months. Your body needs time to recover.

This is why I always recommend at least two months recovery time after your Brazilian Butt Lift.

Feeling Good About Your Brazilian Butt Lift

2014-02-07 16:05:16 admin

Are you thinking about a Brazilian Butt Lift? Whether you are just starting your research on plastic surgery, or you are a few days out from surgery, you want to make sure that you feel good about the finished product.

You want to feel good about your Brazilian Butt Lift.

Here are a few recommendations I feel you should consider.

1) Do your research – This is one of the most important aspects of the entire process. You should go through as many resources as possible to develop a wealth of knowledge about the Brazilian Butt Lift. Most importantly, spend ample time researching your surgeons. Make sure they are board-certified in plastic surgery. If you are considering a Brazilian Butt Lift, you should contact anywhere between 3-5 different surgeons who specialize in it.
2) Follow your surgeon’s instructions – The best way to feel good about your Brazilian Butt Lift is to make sure that the finished result exceeds your expectations. This means you have to follow your surgeon’s specific instructions. Make sure you are aware of all of the post-op steps to recovery.
3) Be patient – You will not see the final results of your Brazilian Butt Lift until at least 6 months after surgery. This is just the nature of the surgery; the body takes time to heal. Do not jump to any conclusions about your Brazilian Butt Lift until this time has passed.

February is the month to fall in love with yourself. We want to hear all about you this month. Share your experiences with us on Facebook and Twitter using #LoveByMendieta, and you could win a 4beauty Gift Bag.

Am I A Good Candidate For A Brazilian Butt Lift

2014-01-20 15:10:12 admin

What makes a good candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift? When an individual visits me at my Miami clinic, 4beauty Aesthetics, and wants to explore a Brazilian Butt Lift, there are always a few factors that I consider.

One is quality fat. Does the individual in question have enough fat around their midsection/torso. With the Brazilian Butt Lift, your surgeon will take fat cells from your abdomen and graft them onto specific areas of the buttocks. This leads to a more natural result.

If I think the patient needs to add more fat, I recommend a new diet and project a timetable for when they could expect to have their surgery.

If you are considering a Brazilian Butt lift, I recommend you research accredited, board certified surgeons who specialize in the procedure. Once you are comfortable with their work, schedule an in person consultation.  They will be able to tell you if you are a strong candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift.

If you have additional questions, I would be more than happy to help. You can find me on Facebook at www.facebook.com/mendietamd and Twitter at www.twitter.com/mendietamd.

How Do I Achieve That “Hourglass” Figure?

2014-01-20 15:04:50 admin

The “hourglass” figure. I find it to be one of the most sought after body types in Miami. So, how can plastic surgery help a woman reach this goal?

The answer is in the Brazilian Butt Lift.

The Brazilian Butt Lift is actually a fat transfer procedure, where fat is grafted from the torso or midsection and transferred to the butt. The amount is always subject to the patient’s desires and the surgeon’s recommendation on what is best for the patient’s specific body type.

The end result, a tighter torso and fuller rear: the hourglass.

If you are considering a Brazilian Butt Lift, or any other procedure, I suggest you research accredited, board certified surgeons near your location. Request pictures and study their work. Once you are comfortable with a surgeon, schedule an in person consultation. Meeting with a surgeon in person, they will be able to give you a better idea of realistic goals.

If you have additional questions, I would be more than happy to help. You can find me on Facebook at www.facebook.com/mendietamd and Twitter at www.twitter.com/mendietamd.

Can I Have Brazilian Butt Lift and Breast Augmentation Procedures Done At The Same Time?

2014-01-06 19:56:53 admin

Every month I have people visit me at my Miami clinic, 4beauty Aesthetics, and ask whether or not it is possible to have multiple surgeries at once. Hypothetically speaking, it is possible, but in some cases it is more difficult than others. Oddly enough, nothing about the procedures themselves prevent them from being performed during the same surgery, but issues may arise post-op.

For instance, I commonly get the request to have both a Brazilian Butt Lift and Breast Augmentation performed at the same time. While these are two completely different parts of the body, they affect each other during surgery. During a Brazilian Butt Lift, the individual is placed on their stomach for the duration of the surgery. All things remaining equal, this isn’t an issue. However, if a Breast Augmentation had been done beforehand, post-op procedure calls for the patient to not put pressure on their chest. If a Breast Augmentation is scheduled for after the Brazilian Butt Lift, complications arise because post-op procedure for the butt lift requires patients avoid putting pressure on their backside.

These are just a few of the reasons that scheduling two procedures for the same surgery may not be advised. To gain a better understanding about what is best for you, I suggest you schedule a consultation with an accredited, board-certified surgeon. They will be able to analyze your body type and dimensions and give you a clear explanation about what safe, realistic goals can be.

If you have additional questions, I would be more than happy to help. You can find me on Facebook at www.facebook.com/mendietamd and Twitter at www.twitter.com/mendietamd.

What Constitutes Quality Fat?

2014-01-06 19:51:52 admin

One of the most common terms used in the plastic-surgery field is “quality fat.” So what is it exactly?

Quality fat refers to the fat that a surgeon will use during a fat transfer procedure, like the Brazilian Butt Lift. In regards to what constitutes “quality,” it is completely relative. A surgeon will assess your body type and surgery goals, and then identify areas on your body from which to graft the fat. In most instances, the highest quality fat comes from the torso and midsection. Once this fat is transferred, we deal with the issue of survival rate. This is a worry for many patients, as it would affect the final results.

This is why it is extremely important to set up an in person consultation with an accredited, board certified surgeon. For instance, if you are looking for a plastic surgeon in Miami, I would suggest researching surgeons in south Florida who specialize in the procedure you are considering. You have your own unique specifications, dimensions, and body dynamic. To reach your target you have to take all of these things and more into consideration.

If you have additional questions, I would be more than happy to help. You can find me on Facebook at www.facebook.com/mendietamd and Twitter at www.twitter.com/mendietamd.

Cosmetic surgery is my vocation and my avocation

2013-08-06 15:42:50 admin

Cosmetic surgery is my vocation and my avocation – and that is the difference.

Every patient who walks through my door is special: they have personal motivations, personal goals, personal highs and lows – and I treat them as such, like individuals, like humans. This field features too many physicians who see procedures; I see people. This field is deeply personal to me. When I’m sitting across from you I don’t see a patient, I see someone whom I can help, and I do everything in my power to improve your life. Since the age of seven I have had one focus, to make people happy. I was born in Los Angeles but raised in Nicaragua. I came from a family of physicians, but it was my uncle, a plastic surgeon, who fascinated me most. He performed reconstructive surgery on everyone from war victims to disfigured children. I was hooked. I shadowed him, asked every question that popped into my mind. I can barely recall the details of our conversations, but I vividly recall one thing – happiness. I remember watching self-conscious patients beginning the surgical process. I remember their lack of confidence, their palpable insecurity; I remember how they carried their self-doubt everywhere with them. But then something happened. My uncle would speak to them, grow to empathize and understand them, and find a way to help them. And incredibly, those timid people began to shine. My uncle helped them find confidence, helped them overcome a hardship, helped them find happiness. The smiling faces of patients leaving his practice were burned into my memory. I have carried this disposition throughout my life. From medical school at Creighton, to my Harvard Fellowship, to opening the doors of my own practice, I have been focused on improving the lives of everyone I meet. I am honored that you have taken the time to read and to peruse this book.

I am honored that I have a wonderful family, and an extended family of patients whose lives I have improved. I am humbled daily by my son Giancarlo, he fuels my fire like nothing else in this world. I am honored to call the most beautiful woman in the world, Nina, my wife. She is truly my better half. I am honored that each person I have helped has also made me a better man today. This book encapsulates my vision, my personality, and my unequivocal dedication to my craft, my dedication to you. Thank you for taking the time to read, and if you have ever considered cosmetic surgery do not hesitate to stop by. I understand what you are going through, and I would love to sit down for a chat.

How To Find The Right Cosmetic Surgeon For You.

2013-08-06 15:42:05 admin

Who is the right cosmetic surgeon for me?’ This is one of, if not the most important questions a candidate for cosmetic surgery should ask themselves. Unfortunately, we see too many cases of surgeries gone wrong.

No matter what surgeon you choose to perform your procedure, there are a few key guidelines you should follow. Cosmetic surgery is the job for a professional, and only a professional. Please do not try and take short cuts and go the cheap route. Any plastic surgeon you visit should be accredited by the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. By visiting the Society’s web site you can search by zip code to find an accredited doctor near you.

It is also important to factor in each doctor’s specialty. Surgeons do in fact specialize in certain procedures. At 4 Beauty Aesthetics Institute, we are renowned for the Brazilian Butt Lift. If you visit my website, http://www.buttsbymendieta.com/thetechnique.asp, you can read about the Mendieta technique. This brings me to my last point.

Do as much research as possible on your potential surgeon. Get to know him, his background, where he studied and where he worked. Look at pictures from previous patients. All of this information should be available to you right from his website.

If you are considering a cosmetic procedure, I would love to get to know you more. Follow me on Facebook and Twitter, where I post daily updates about news in the cosmetic surgery field.

In order to achieve a curvier derriere, many individuals choose to undergo buttock implant surgery. Miami, Florida plastic surgeon Constantino G. Mendieta, M.D., F.A.C.S., performs this body contouring procedure at his professional and well-established practice. He has performed the buttock augmentation procedure for many years, and in several nations. Consequently, he has appeared many times over in the media and often conducts seminars that teach other plastic surgeons how to perform the butt implant procedure.

He often explains that implants are often used in plastic surgery to reshape and augment body parts like the female breast and the calf. Likewise, gluteal implants can improve the shape of patients’ buttocks. Not only do you look better, you’ll have more self-confidence and be more approachable, thanks to your shapely new figure.

Miami women often ask for buttock implants when they are thin and wear a size two to four dress. Usually, those women don’t have enough bodily fat to spare for a butt enhancement procedure known as fat grafting or fat transfer. But with a buttock implant your rear end will be among the classiest on South Beach, Miami Beach or any other beach worldwide. The procedure is fairly straightforward and involves placing a single scar under the butt that, after healing, becomes so well-hidden, not even your closest intimate will be able to find it.

Many patients ask Dr. Mendieta if an implant can leak. Breast implants which are filled with saline or silicone can leak, but the implants used to augment and shape the buttocks are made of solid silicone which cannot break or leak any fluid into your body.

Patients are also quick to ask what the implant feels like after healing. The augmented rear end has a firm but natural feel, about like the feel of a person has who been working out with weights or exercising hard for many years. Moreover, you actually do not sit on the implant because it is placed somewhat higher than the bones on which you actually sit.

Dr. Mendieta has made an in-depth academic study of buttock augmentation in cooperation with another plastic surgeon in Brazil where the female derriere has long been appreciated. Before that, he trained under the surgeons who first developed the technique.

The actual surgical procedure can be done under a general anesthetic, a spinal, IV sedation, or an epidural block.

Evaluate the Buttock’s shape

Buttock Shapes

When undergoing butt augmentation with implants, patients will be presented with a variety of options. Some of these include shape (round and oval); filling (cohesive silicone or solid silicone); and surface (type, smooth or textured). Dr. Mendieta typically uses the smooth, round, solid silicone butt implants. Another important factor to consider is incision location. The three locations include: toward the top on both sides of the upper buttock; toward the bottom in both of the gluteal creases, where your “cheeks” meets the top of the thighs; and down the center of the sacrum, which is a vertical incision down the buttocks crease. Miami buttock implants specialist Dr. Mendieta will discuss these in further detail with you during your visit.

There are other variables, such as size, shape, and skin quality, that need to be considered before making any determinations about which butt augmentation procedure is best for you. If you are thin and wear a size two to four dress, you may not have enough bodily fat to spare for the fat transfer butt enhancement method; therefore, in order to create a new, curvier rear, you would have to receive butt implants.

When evaluating the shape of the buttock, we divide its anatomy into three sections; the upper buttock, the mid-buttock and the lower buttock. Each area needs to be evaluated and addressed separately to provide the best gluteal harmony.

When a gluteal enhancement is done, the implant is mainly augmenting the upper buttock and the upper portion of the mid buttock. It will not fill out the other areas. In the majority of patients, a careful analysis of the middle and lower buttock needs to be made. Complementary procedures may be required in order to improve the overall shape.

Surgery Options

Although the buttock implant operation is fairly straightforward, there are many technical aspects to the procedure that may be done differently depending on the surgeon’s training, experience, and philosophy. This type of operation involves placing an implant that is made of silicone (either cohesive silicone gel or solid silicone) in the buttocks to improve size, shape, and contour.

Dr. Mendieta knows how to place implants through a single, well-hidden incision that, when healed, nobody will ever see with the single exception of your proctologist. In most cases, the implant is placed under the layers of buttock muscle and fat so it’s there to stay. Plus, there’s no danger of breaking and leaking because the implants are made of semi-solid silicone. After all, you sit on not the implants, but on the bones designed to support your weight. The actual implants are placed up higher in the buttocks.

Virtually all buttock implant patients say the new, curvy rear, along with its “wow” factor is worth it. Once healed, buttock implant patients love filling out new styles and really love filling out a bathing suit. Plus, you’ll have more self-confidence and be more approachable, thanks to your shapely new figure.

Your 5 Butt Implant Options

To understand your options and the operation, here is what you should know:

Implant Selection: The implant is either round or oval, the so-called “anatomic” implant. Like breast implants, the implant comes with either a smooth or a textured surface. Neither the shape nor the surface texture of the implant makes much of a difference in the outcome. The content inside the implant can be either solid silicone or cohesive silicone gel, with the solid silicone the most commonly used. The solid implant is excellent since it cannot rupture, spill, or deflate while the cohesive gel is not available in the United States. Dr. Mendieta usually uses the smooth, round implant. The decision regarding which type of implant will be used is heavily influenced by your surgeon’s preference and philosophy. The augmented buttock has a natural feel and can be somewhat firm to the touch. It basically just feels like you have been working out for a long time.

Incision Location: Once you and Dr. Mendieta have decided on the implant, the next task is to decide on the type of incision. The buttock implant incision can be placed in several locations:
Toward the top on both sides of the upper buttock. Although the scars can be hidden in your undergarment or bikini, it is not recommended since the scar can be quite visible when you are nude. Moreover, two incisions are required. Or,
Toward the bottom in both of the gluteal creases, the areas where your “cheeks” meets the top of the thighs. That choice will leave you with two scars that also can be quite visible. Or finally,
One incision, which is placed down the center of the sacrum. That’s a small 4 to 6 cm (about ¼ inch) vertical incision down the buttocks crease. Dr. Mendieta believes that to be the best location because it is extremely well-hidden and not even your closest friend can find it. (He or she won’t want to be looking in that area). Furthermore, the sacrum approach only involves one scar. The only drawback is it may have a higher infection rate than the other incisions due to its location close to the anus. However, an infection is usually cured with antibiotics and wound care.

Above or below the muscle: Once we know the type of incision, the next step is to decide on the placement of the buttock implant.

This again will heavily depend on your surgeon’s preference; many nice results have been attained with either position. What it really depends on is the person’s anatomy. Dr. Mendieta has seen many implants that were placed above the muscle and later looked like a sack of potatoes. That may take place in patients who have a very droopy buttock or poor skin tone. In my practice, I have preferred to place the implant within the muscle. That accomplishes several things:
First, it gives the implant more support and prevents it from moving too far down the buttock.
Secondly, it gives an extra layer of coverage so the implant feels more natural to the touch and has a nicer shape.
Finally, the added tissue coverage protects the implant from infection. If the implant were placed above the muscle and the wound became infected, more than likely so will the implant. In this scenario, the implant would have to be removed and left out for three months before inserting it again. Of course, every surgeon has his or her own philosophy and preference.

To liposuction or not to liposuction: The final decision will be whether or not liposuction should be combined with the implant procedure to add further contour to the buttocks.

When I first learned the technique, my mentors were not performing liposuction with the implant procedure. Most of the patients who were having the operation had flat buttocks, but they also had a role of excess fat in the upper-outer part of the buttock. They looked flat from the side but wide and flat from the back. After the augmentation, the patients had nice-looking results and a large wide look from all angles. I began to combine the implant procedure with liposuction of the upper outer part of the buttock to improve the wide appearance. I then noticed a tremendous change in the contour and shape of the buttocks.

In some patients, liposuction of the lower buttock and outer thigh is also needed to improve the droopy look. I will therefore combine most of my buttock augmentations with liposuction. Please remember that every plastic surgeon has his or her own philosophy; therefore the decision to combine liposuction will depend on what you want and your surgeon’s philosophy.

The Operation Itself: Buttock augmentation is an outpatient procedure that takes about an hour to perform. If liposuction is being done, then it may take an additional half hour.

You must be placed face down for the operation. A 5 to 6 cm (about ¼ inch) vertical incision is made in the well-hidden buttock center crease, the sacrum. The dissection continues on either side of the sacrum until the buttock muscle is reached. At this point, the muscle is incised and with careful dissection, a pocket is created for the implant within the muscle. Surprisingly, there is very little bleeding. The implants are inserted into the newly created pockets and the muscle closed over the implants. The midline incision is then closed in layers. If liposuction is going to be done, it is performed through separate incisions.
Your New Look

After your butt implant procedure in Miami, you will need to wear a support garment for approximately two to three weeks. This will help the skin redrape properly and provide support to the augmented buttocks. Final results are noticeable three months after surgery. At this point, most of the swelling will be gone and the implants will be settled in their normal position.

At first, you will notice a definite difference in the gluteus contour, but because you are swollen, the buttock will appear very full, and will have a boxy appearance. You may also notice the implants sit quite high on the buttock. That is all normal, too; kindly remember that you are swollen. It will take at least three months for all the swelling to go down and for the implants to settle into their normal position. You may experience occasional temperature changes and numbness over the buttocks. But that will also improve over the next three months. You may feel a little timid and scared when sitting down, but remember the implant is much higher on the buttock than where you normally sit, so don’t worry.

An increasingly popular procedure, butt enhancement surgery is frequently performed at the Coconut Grove practice of Constantino G. Mendieta, M.D., F.A.C.S. Those who would like to achieve a curvier physique may turn to our highly qualified surgeon for a butt lift in Miami, Florida.

Brazilian Butt Lift expert Dr. Mendieta is a board-certified plastic surgeon in Miami, Florida, who says women around 50 often want the procedure to bulk up deflating derrieres while younger patients from Coral Gables to Biscayne Bay want a more shapely backside to complement newly augmented breasts.

Dr. Mendieta learned how to perform the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure in Brazil from the surgeons who invented it. Now, women everywhere are considering or getting their buttocks lifted. Reasons? More women are wearing tighter garments, low-cut sweats, workout pants and leotards in public more often. And, if you wear a thong bathing suit to the pool or to Miami, South or Bal Beach, absolutely nothing is left to the imagination.

Butt Lift Surgery Information

This body enhancing procedure is designed to lift the buttocks to higher position, add volume, and enhance its shape. Dr. Mendieta offers two techniques to patients; fat transfer and buttocks implants. He will recommend the best option depending the individual’s preference and anatomy. However, he usually performs fat transfer in order to achieve a more natural feel and appearance. Dr. Mendieta’s signature “Highlight Liposculpting and Lipo Fat Transfer” 3D approach helps to accentuate the patient’s curves.

An added benefit of this technique is the combination of liposuction surgery (“lipoplasty”), which provides the patient with a more contoured outcome. Dr. Mendieta will remove excess fat from another part of the body, harvest it, and inject the fat cells into the buttocks. His preferred method of injection is through layering; Dr. Mendieta will inject pearl-size drops into different layers of the muscles and fat. By placing them close to a blood supply, the harvested fat cells are more likely to survive and not be reabsorbed by the body.

Following your Brazilian butt lift surgery, you will be required to wear a supportive garment for six to eight weeks. Recovery time will be dependent on whether liposuction was performed or not, with most patients being able to return to work in 10 to 14 days. Further details regarding the Brazilian butt lift recovery period will be discussed during your visit near Coconut Grove.

Something Extra

But Dr. Mendieta has added something new to the Brazilian Butt Lift. He creates an even more shapely rear by removing any extra fat on the side, above and below the buttocks. That creates even better curves and makes a Brazilian Butt Lift seem more round and extra shapely.

Brazilian Butt Lift patients often ask for the procedure because:

They want to improve the curve of the hip and rear end
They want more shape in each buttock
Fat transfer, or fat grafting as it’s sometimes known, takes fat from the lower back, the hips or the “love handles.” Once the fat is prepared, fat cells are injected into the peaks of the buttocks, muscle layer by muscle layer, where it will thrive with a good blood supply.

If a patient is very thin, she may be asked to return after she has gained some weight.

But wherever you go and whatever you wear, a Brazilian Butt Lift will give your figure an added boost and increase your self-confidence.
